Theatre Skills Poster: Five Rhythms

ISTA's Theatre Skills posters are designed to help students enhance their understanding and mastery of essential drama and theatre techniques and practices, while encouraging thoughtful reflection on their personal growth as performers and creators.

Each poster inspires students to approach key theatre skills with creativity and confidence—exploring different performance techniques, conventions, and methods with curiosity, dedication, and an appreciation for artistic discovery and diversity. 

The Five Rhythms poster explores the dynamic qualities of movement—Flow, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness—each rhythm unlocking unique ways of expressing emotion, energy, and creativity in performance. This poster guides students to embody these rhythms, helping them understand how to transition seamlessly between fluidity and sharpness, release and control, all while tapping into the deeper layers of theatrical expression.
